The Yellow Club opened in 1991 and it's considered as one
of the best dance clubs of Tokyo. The club was famous for
its parties called "The World Connection", bringing
top DJs and performers from overseas. The founders of the
club wanted the Yellow to be a place where there are no strict
rules and limits. They wanted to experiment with music, dances,
behavior, clothes and other features of nightlife. That's
why they called their club the "Space Lab Yellow",
meaning that in the new venue everything is possible. The
main idea of experiment and permissiveness still remains as
the distinguishing feature of the Yellow club.
The sound-system of the Yellow is probably the best in Japan.
That's why Japanese and foreign DJs love to perform in the
club. As one of the Yellow performers said, no matter which
record a DJ plays, they all sound good with the Yellow sound
system. The club could boast a great team of DJs, which includes
Ko Kimura, Francois K, Danny Krivit, Lil Louis and many others.
The Yellow is a popular place for the foreigners' hangouts,
as the atmosphere is very democratic and relaxing. The Yellow
might be the most popular club among foreigners coming to
Tokyo as tourists and interested in Japanese nightlife.
The music style of the Yellow is house, techno, jazzy and
hiphop. No matter which event takes place on a weekend, the
club is always packed with Japanese and foreign progressive
youth. But it's not a problem, as the Yellow is a relatively
large club: about 800 guests can comfortably party there.
The forth Saturday of every month the Kool Party gathers a
whole crowd of people. Another famous event is the Spice Night,
dedicating to one of the popular DJs.
The Yellow Club is probably the best in Tokyo to see the house
nightclubbing scene. But please notice that for entering you
must be at least 18 years old and present a valid ID card
with a picture on it.
